Last day to make Meal Plan changes is Friday, September 10!
Students, please be aware that the LAST DAY to make changes to your Fall Meal Plans is the 14th day of class - Friday, September 10. You can make changes on your PAWS account at Registration Services, then Additional Services. You may also contact the Tiger Card about your account at 578-4300 or visit them on the first floor of the Student Union. LSU Dining does not have access to any student records, but we can help with general Meal Plan questions at 578-6642.
Off-Campus Students can get ANY Meal Plan!
For those students who are living off-campus, we suggest you still consider getting an LSU Dining Meal Plan. The Tiger Commuter is great for those students who are looking for about one Meal a day plus some Paw Points to use all over campus. However, ANY Meal Plan is available for off-campus or upper class students if you want even more!
Now that The 5 is open in addition to The 459 Commons, Meal Plans have become the most convenient and best value for dining on campus! Keep in mind, options are more limited with the Tiger Lair Food Court still under construction, too.
You can easily select a Meal Plan on your PAWS account. Just go to Registration Services, then Additional Services and enter the corresponding Meal Plan code. Fees will be assessed from the Bursar's Office. If you have any questions, you can contact LSU Dining at 578-6642 or call the Tiger Card Office for any questions regarding your account at 578-4300.
Good luck getting back-to-school! We look forward to serving you!!

We are so glad to have it open on the Northwest side of campus! Chef Ryan has a wonderful staff, some of whom have been there for decades, and they sure know how to cook!
Greek Meal Plan options
LSU Dining does provide some special options for Greeks who want to supplement their house plan. First year students living on campus must select a Meal Plan as required by the university. If you later decide to go with a Greek house plan, you have the option to discontinue your LSU Dining Meal Plan or change it to a supplemental plan in addition to your Greek house plan. Any remaining balance will be reimbursed in full.
The Greeks go through a sign-up process in early September where they can make their Meal Plan selections for the entire academic year. That is the only time a Greek Meal Plan can be selected and proof must be provided if a house plan is being used.
The LSU Dining options are:
- Greek Meal Plan
$480
Paw Points ONLY with $480 in Paw Points - "dining dollars" which can only be used for food.
Good at any LSU Dining on-campus location
- Tiger Commuter *
$685
75 Meals PLUS $100 in Paw Points
Cost savings of $2.00 per meal for Lunch (door rates are Lunch $9.80 / Dinner $10.65)
Meals are served at The 459 Commons and The 5 and Paw Points are good at any LSU Dining on-campus location.
* Tiger Commuter does not meet the initial requirement for first-year on-campus residents, but can later be used to supplement a Greek house plan since the house plan does meet the university requirement. The Commuter Plan would considered supplemental for convenient on-campus options.
TigerCASH can also be used similar to Paw Points and is accepted at all LSU Dining locations, but you will have to pay the door rates at The 459 Commons and The 5. In addition, TigerCASH may be used for many other things besides food and could cause you to run out. LSU Dining offers Paw Points to ensure students have food provisions.

March is National Nutrition Month!
March is National Nutrition Month and LSU Dining is featuring our own theme - Savor the Flavor of Herbs & Spices! Herbs and spices add flavor to cooking without adding salt, excess fat and artificial chemical additives. Not only are herbs and spices flavorful and easy to use, scientists are also exploring their therapeutic use in cooking. This promotion will educate our clients, customers and associates about this hot trend.
Herbs and spices are also considered to be 'superfoods'. Their strong flavors come from essential oils that are the plant's first line of defense against predators. Spices can be obtained from seeds, fruits, roots, bark or some other vegetative substance. Herbs usually come from the leafy part of a plant, and are used fresh or dried.
Dietitians have the reputation of always saying don't eat this or don't eat that. With herbs and spices, we can say 'eat more!' not less. "Herbs and spices support an increase in variety of food intake and thus, nutrient density."
LSU Dining will be featuring some special recipes and partner with the Wellness Center for discussions about the health benefits of herbs and spices.

SUCCESS with PROJECT CLEAN PLATE!
Great news for Project Clean Plate at The 459 Commons. You can click here to see our goal with Project Clean Plate which is to reduce our waste by 20%. For every 5% reduction we achieve, LSU Dining will make a donation to the Baton Rouge Food Bank just in time for Thanksgiving!
Basically the goal is to reduce waste by bringing back clean plates! Students can still eat as much as they want, but they are encouraged to take only what they will eat. That is all there is to it!
Our first week's benchmark (10/5) was 768 pounds. Students have already stepped up to the challenge judging by our second week!
10/12 Week - Total waste was 719 pounds. That is already a 6.4% reduction!! We are well on our way to reaching 614 pounds!!
10/19 Week - Total waste was 659 pounds. Only 45 more pounds to go to reach our goal!!
10/26 Week - Total waste was 628 pounds. Almost there!! Down by 140 total pounds so far.
11/2 Week - Total waste was 615 pounds. So close!! We only have ONE more pound to go to reach our goal of 20%!
11/9 Week - Total waste was 597 pounds. WE DID IT! Food waste was reduced by 22.3%! Because of your efforts, LSU Dining is proud to make a Thanksving Donation to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Click here for more details!
Sustainability matters! Click here for ways you can help. Watch our progress and look for ways YOU can assist with our campus sustainability efforts! Thanks for your help in making this a continuous effort at LSU!
LOVE FOOD, HATE WASTE!!
Here are some things you can do:
- Exercise portion control.
- Ask for a sample if you are unsure.
- Eat with your stomach, not with your eyes. You may always go back!
- The correct protein portion size for one meal is 3oz. That is the size of a deck of cards.
- For added taste, use condiments found around the servery.
- Don't get dessert until you have finished.
- It takes 20 minutes for your brain to know you are full, so let your food digest before you get more.
According to the USDA, Americans waste almost 25% of all food produced in the US each year.
We have already gone trayless to conserve water and energy and reduce chemicals. We also recycle our used cooking oil into biodiesel fuel. Not to mention the fact that The 459 Commons was renovated with "green" initiatives in place. We all need to do our part!!
