Meal Plans 1001

LSU Dining is proud to serve the LSU community!  We know that students who eat balanced meals statistically do better in school, and it is our goal to provide them a variety of healthy food options.  LSU Dining Meal Plans are semester-based and designed to offer students convenience, flexibility and affordability.  Residential Dining gives students the opportunity to interact with peers in a relaxed setting.

The 459 Commons and The 5 are modern and versatile state-of-the-art facilities complete with plasma TV's, wireless access and a huge variety of menu offerings. The 459 Commons features an Outtakes store with a Taco Bell and Papa John's which is open until 3:00 am Monday through Thursday and until 7:00pm on Friday.  The 5 features Take 5 with a Quiznos which is new to campus.

First-year and Second-Year students living on-campus are required to have a Meal Plan, but we encourage all students to have one.  Meal Plan requirement does not apply to 2nd year students in East Campus or West Campus apartments.  There are five options to choose from!  In addition, we feature the Tiger Commuter Meal Plan to off-campus and upper class students who would like to enjoy the ease of dining on campus.

LSU Dining Meal Plans are SEMESTER-based and designed to offer students convenience, variety and affordability. We offer several Meal Plans with various combinations of Meals and Paw Points that can best suit your needs on campus. Meal Plans are for anyone and can be shared with family and friends (with the exception of the Tiger Max Unlimited Plan).  The Commuter Meal Plan is great for upper-class students or commuters and gives you the convenience of dining on campus with no shopping, cooking or cleaning!

MEALS are served at The 459 Commons and our newest dining hall called The 5 (formerly known as Pentagon Dining Hall) which opened in January 2010.  Experience Residential Dining at its best with state-of-the-art facilities and exciting menu options!  Both dining halls offer continuous service from 7:00am - 8:00pm Monday through Thursday and 7:00am - 7:00pm on Friday.  Meals are all-you-care-to-eat and menus can be viewed online for your convenience.

PAW POINTS are flexible "dining dollars" that can be used at any LSU Dining location on campus including the Tiger Lair Food Court , McDonald's, Einstein Bros. Bagels, CC's Coffee House, Subway, Atrium Cafe, Chick-N-Grill at Pierre's Landing, the Magnolia Room Restaurant, the Faculty Club Restaurant and more!  They are dollar-for-point spending that makes getting a quick snack or meal so easy.

MEAL TRANSFERS are another added value with a Meal Plan.  They are great for late-night, weekend or grab and geaux dining!  A Meal Plan Meal may be swapped for a Meal Transfer Combo at participating locations.  One Meal will be deducted from the Meal Plan balance instead of the Paw Point balance.  Meal Transfers cover weekend meal service on Saturday and Sunday when the dining halls are closed.

Meal Transfers are available 6-days-a-week (closed Saturday) at Outtakes / Taco Bell / Papa John's at The 459 Commons and Take 5 / Quiznos at The 5. Students can swap a Meal Plan Meal for a designated Meal Transfer combo anytime during operating hours at Outtakes and Take 5.  Meal Transfers are also accepted at the Tiger Lair Food Court ALL DAY Saturday only.  Einstein Bros Bagels offers late-night Meal Transfers Monday thru Friday and ALL DAY Saturday and Sunday.  Remember, you can use Paw Points anytime at any retail LSU Dining location on campus for even more flexibility and variety.

Please note that Weekday Meal Transfers and sharing of Meals does not apply to the TIGER MAX UNLIMITED MEAL PLAN!

Four Meal Transfers (two on Saturday and two on Sunday) are included with the Tiger Max every weekend.  Weekend Meal Transfers are available at the Tiger Lair on Saturday, Outtakes and Take 5 on Sunday and Einstein Bros Bagels anytime Saturday or Sunday.

New for Fall...Meal Transfers will be limited to ONE MEAL TRANSFER per MEAL PERIOD which is potentially up to 4-per-day.  This applies to all LSU Dining locations accepting Meal Transfers and Meal Periods are as follows:

BREAKFAST  7:00am - 10:30am
LUNCH  10:30am - 4:30pm
DINNER  4:30pm - 8:00pm
LATE NIGHT  8:00pm - 3:00am

You can still share your Meal Plan in the dining halls!  You may swipe in friends or family at The 459 Commons or The 5 anytime (except with the Tiger Max).

Consider there are approximately 110 days in the semester including weekends or 75 weekdays. Males tend to choose a Meal Plan with more of the all-you-care-to-eat dining hall meals while females prefer more Paw Points to use for specific items at our retail locations around campus.

Students are free to use Meal Plan Meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner with no weekly usage requirements. Unused meals will not roll over to the next semester, but Paw Points will roll over from Fall to Spring if the student continues with an LSU Dining Meal Plan.

You may sign up for a Meal Plan anytime through your PAWS account after you are registered for classes. Once you are in your account, simply go to Registration Services, then Additional Services. Enter the corresponding Service Code for the Meal Plan you would like to choose. Meal Plan charges will be added to your Fee Bill if it is before the deadline for processing.

You must complete Registration in order for your meal plan to transfer to your account (Tiger Card).  Students can add a Meal Plan and TigerCASH to their fee bill during registration. After you have chosen your method of payment, return to the "Fee Bill" screen, scroll to the bottom and click "Complete Registration."

You can also sign up for a Meal Plan in person at the Tiger Card Office in the LSU Student Union, Room 207.  Contact the Tiger Card Office at 578-4300 for more information.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact LSU Dining at 578.6642 or the Tiger Card Office at 578.4300. Meal Plans are semester-based.  Unused Meals will be lost after the last class day of the Fall semester.  Paw Points will roll over from Fall to Spring only if the student has a Spring Meal Plan.  Roll-over Paw Points will automatically be added after the 14th day of class.  Any unused Paw Points will be lost if not used before the last day of class for the Spring semester.  They will not roll over from Spring to Summer or Fall.  The balance for Meals and Paw Points is available at any LSU Dining register or on the Tiger Card web site.

All Meal Plan refunds are based on the effective date provided by the Registrar’s Office.  Any student who officially withdraws from the University once the semester begins will be assessed a $30.00 processing fee.  If a student officially withdraws within the first 7 days of class, he/she will receive a full refund for any unexpended Meals or Paw Points. After 7 days of class, a 75% refund will be given and the student will be charged for any used Meals and Paw Points. Students who withdraw from the University after mid terms are subject to either a 50% assessment or total charge of usage for Meals and Paw Points, whichever is greater.  Please refer to Meal Plans 1001 or FAQ's for further information.
